How to get your Luxembourg state pension record and pension estimate

This guide explains CNAP records and estimates for the Luxembourg general pension scheme. CNAP does not administer every Luxembourg statutory pension. State, municipal and CFL careers can fall under special pension schemes with different competent institutions.

CCSS sends the pension career extract each year to people who are not yet receiving a personal pension and were insured under Luxembourg's general pension scheme during the previous year. It shows Luxembourg pension-insurance months and yearly income subject to pension insurance through 31 December of the previous year.

The affiliation certificate lists registered employers and occupations in chronological order, without income amounts. The income certificate shows total gross income recorded for the period you choose, without separating it by employer. Compare the official certificate descriptions.

From age 56, the annual statement also shows an estimated pension amount when at least 120 months of pension insurance have been completed. Guichet says the amount uses the calculation parameters then in force, generally those applying on 1 January of the year in which the statement is sent.

The current Guichet procedure says CNAP accepts this request after you have reached age 56. It is for someone who works or has worked in Luxembourg as an employee or self-employed person under the general pension scheme. You do not have to live in Luxembourg, but you must have a 13-digit Luxembourg national identification number.

This request can reconstruct periods CNAP does not yet know about, including foreign work and periods of study. CNAP can calculate the earliest possible pension start date and estimate the pension at no more than two dates: the calculated start date and, if requested, a later date of your choice.

Put the annual pension career extract beside your own career timeline. Mark any gap, foreign employment period or other period that needs evidence before you submit the separate estimate request.

CNAP examines the file, reconstructs eligible periods where the evidence supports them and calculates the requested estimate. The official procedure says processing time depends on the complexity of the case and that the response is sent by post.

Compare the reconstructed career with your own timeline before focusing on the amount. A missing period can matter more than a small change in the projected figure.
