If your working life includes Luxembourg and another country, start by gathering the records that describe each part of your career. This guide helps you prepare information for an old-age pension application involving Luxembourg’s general pension scheme. It does not determine when you qualify or how much you will receive.

Confirm which institution should receive your application

For Luxembourg residents covered by the general scheme, Guichet directs applications to CNAP. If you have belonged to both general and special Luxembourg pension schemes, the last scheme matters. Guichet application guidance

If you live abroad, confirm the receiving institution before sending a form. Guichet generally directs non-residents to their residence-country institution, with an exception for people who worked exclusively in Luxembourg. CNAP’s own guidance also describes a route through the institution of the last applicable member state. Your residence and insurance history therefore need to be considered together. You can use the preparation checklist below while confirming that route. Follow the receiving institution’s own application and attachment instructions.

Gather the information requested by the CNAP form

Open the application through the official CNAP forms page so you can check the version currently supplied. The reviewed PDF is labelled DPF_01/2026. It covers several request types; select the one that matches your application. CNAP forms CNAP application form

For its foreign-career section, prepare the country, start and end dates, employer name and address, foreign insurance number, pension institution and occupation. That section asks for supporting evidence. The form also requests personal details, relevant Luxembourg insurance history, existing pensions or benefits, applicable family information and a signature. A bank-account identification document (relevé d’identité bancaire, or RIB) is mandatory. CNAP application form

Make a working timeline organised by country, with a note beside each period identifying the record you hold. This is an organisational suggestion, not an additional official form.

Include foreign career statements where available

CNAP recommends the career statement from the foreign pension institution as the best document to provide for work abroad. If you do not have it, supply at least your foreign social-security number, exact employment periods and the institution with which you were insured. CNAP administrative FAQ

Your copy does not replace the official exchange: CNAP still requests confirmation of the insurance periods from the foreign institution. Providing a statement is not a guarantee that every period will be recognised. CNAP administrative FAQ

For your own records, keep each country’s documents together and retain the original files. Do not alter a statement to make it match your timeline; flag differences for the institution to examine.

Check the attachments and submission instructions

If your application is being sent directly to CNAP, its published instructions require a completed, signed original form by post, with the required attachments. Its administrative FAQ specifies an original signature and a RIB in the applicant’s name. Use the current official forms page for the postal destination. CNAP forms CNAP administrative FAQ

Check every section that applies to your circumstances rather than treating this guide as an exhaustive attachment list. Keep a copy of what you send and a record of the submission date.

Be prepared for follow-up questions

CNAP may request more evidence or ask about gaps in the career record. It sends an acknowledgment when it receives the application. Processing depends in part on the availability of records and, for foreign periods, responses from other institutions. There is no single processing time that this guide can promise. When following up, identify the period or document you are asking about and keep the institution’s reply with your application records.
